Florida Angler Bitten By Shark

Florida Angler Bitten by Shark

Second Shark Bite Incident in the Florida Keys

Two fishermen have been bitten by sharks in separate incidents less than 36 hours apart.

The first incident occurred on Friday, when a 35-year-old man fishing off a dock in Summerland Key, an island in the Florida Keys, was bitten on the foot by a shark. The man was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The second incident occurred on Saturday, when a 42-year-old man was bitten on the leg while swimming in the waters off of Key Largo. The man was also taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Both incidents are being investigated by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). The FWC is urging swimmers and anglers to be aware of the potential for shark encounters and to take precautions to avoid being bitten.

The FWC recommends that swimmers and anglers avoid swimming or fishing in areas where sharks are known to be present. They also recommend avoiding swimming or fishing at night, when sharks are more active. If you see a shark, the FWC recommends that you stay calm and slowly swim away.

Shark bites are relatively rare, but they can be serious. If you are bitten by a shark, the FWC recommends that you seek medical attention immediately.
