Origins and Early Success

The SV Stuttgarter Kickers, officially known as Sportverein Stuttgarter Kickers e.V., is a German sports club based in the Degerloch district of Stuttgart. The club was founded in 1899 and has a long and storied history in German football.

Bundesliga Era

The Kickers spent the early 1960s in the second-tier of German football. However, with the formation of the Bundesliga, Germany's new professional league, in 1963, the club was moved to the Regionalliga Süd.

The Kickers enjoyed some success in the Regionalliga Süd, finishing as high as second place in the 1964–65 season. However, they were unable to qualify for the Bundesliga.

Recent History

In recent years, the Kickers have played in the Oberliga Baden-Württemberg, the fifth tier of German football. The club has won the Oberliga title on two occasions, in 2008–09 and 2011–12.

The Kickers currently play their home matches at the Gazi-Stadion auf der Waldau. The stadium has a capacity of 11,491 and is located in the Degerloch district of Stuttgart.
